January 2024

THE PRESIDENT’S LETTER

Dear music-loving friends, I am happy to present to you the program for this spring 2024, but before your questions, I want to say to you “DON’T BE AFRAID, DARE, TRUST US”.

Because PROKOFIEV, WEINBERG, SHOSTAKOVITCH are undoubtedly more difficult to approach, but immense composers to discover alongside the great classics, especially interpreted by the so precious DANEL Quartet in a "resistant" Russian uniqueness of the time in view of in the “Putinian” context. And for the first time a “VOICE” will resonate, supported by our favorite strings. And that it is that of the immense Irish soprano Helen KEARNS will be a real enchantment.

You can discover the recording of HAYDN with PRAZAK on YouTube, exactly our program. Finally you will discover the very young Dutch composer, of Czech family origin, Thomas PRECHAL, a true 19-year-old prodigy with an already very long history of compositions and concerts in major European halls, who will play cello in his own quintet.

There are many of you in September who discovered it, almost urgently! and appreciated our new permanent location in THEZIERS, a site even more magical than MAYRAN, the St Amant chapel, pure Romanesque from the 12th century, on a small hill far from the village, among olive trees, vineyards and pines. The welcome from Théziers town hall and the “Friends of St Amant” association is very favorable to us. A high platform will be in place and the numbering will still be present.

Toilets are available and the parking lot just behind the chapel will be set up and signposted. Located 5 km from Remoulins and the motorway, the chapel is very easily accessible by road (20 minutes from Uzès and Avignon). Moreover, the large pine forest is readily available for the pre-concert picnic, especially since we were able to keep our friends, the winegrowers from Laudun, on site.

The possibility of TAXI-AR Uzès-La Chapelle offered by the association of “Amis des Concerts de l’Amitié” is maintained. In the midst of generalized violence, alongside incivility, the immense noise of the world, multiple solitudes, come and dialogue in complete intimacy with music and share the joy of listening together to these great composers, the honor of learned and sensitive humanity. And know that our performers come to us to experience their art within our audience and know perfectly how to recognize our listening.

Our team, Jacqueline and Philippe Mermillon, Camille and Henri Simonet, Yannick Prioux and my wife Ode Dartevelle, wish you with me a beautiful and happy new year 2024, hoping to see you in even greater numbers this spring, without forgetting to invite all your friends.

 Very cordially,
Daniel Dartevelle
